What is Plasma?
Plasma is a smart contract on the Ethereum network which locks value and provides proof of locked value (i.e. tokens) to a sidechain. Once tokens are locked in smart contracts they become available for users to transact on the sidechain.
How does Plasma work?
Plasma reaches consensus using Proof Of Authority (PoA). In other words, an operator (i.e. an Altcoin.io main node) signs transactions and commits them to blocks.
Who introduced Plasma?
Plasma was introduced by Vitalik Buterin (Ethereum) and Joseph Poon (Lightning Network) in their white paper, Plasma: Scalable Autonomous Smart Contracts.
It’s time to decentralize.
Since 2011, dozens of centralized cryptocurrency exchanges have been hacked, with more added to the list every month. For crypto trading to flourish, we need a truly decentralized exchange that’s easy to use. Centralized exchanges are the weakest link in the crypto community and a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

Smart Contracts Explained
Smart contracts connect the blockchain to the real world. They allow you to open your front door, turn on your washing machine, charge your electric vehicle, or send funds abroad — all without lifting a finger.
Decentralized Exchanges Explained.
Decentralized exchanges have been around for some time. As far back as 2015, BitShares DEX, Coinffeine, and OpenLedger all claimed the coveted world’s first decentralized exchange title. EtherDelta, 0x, Kyber Network, AirSwap, and a number of others have joined the fray since. While they’ve generally offered better security, they’re far from perfect.
“Virtual currencies, perhaps most notably Bitcoin, have captured the imagination of some, struck fear among others.”
Altcoin.io’s wallet gives a cryptographic code confirming both parties have sent the coins, alongside a code declaring the settlement was complete much like a receipt.
Colin HarperThe Merkle
We’re excited to see what Altcoin.io has in store for the new year. It looks like they’re doing their best to provide an easier, more secure, and more accessible way to trade altcoins.
Using Altcoin.io’s tech, developers can lock ether tokens in an Ethereum smart contract that specifies the funds will only be sent if an equal amount of bitcoin is sent to a bitcoin address during a specific time window.
While many DEXs have bulky, complicated interfaces; Altcoin.io is working to make both a simple interface to quickly exchange crypto, as well as an in-depth, customizable exchange.
